Barbara Joanne Setter

Barb married John in 1963 and they enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1999.

Her greatest love was her kids, grandkids and extended family. She spoke with happiness in her voice when she talked about them. Barb gave much of her time to volunteering in the community. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Red Cross Association and Schubert Center. Her biggest love was Girl Guides of Canada; she was a member for over forty years, serving from leader to District Commissioner. During the past few years, she was an active member of the Tillicum Trefoil Group. One of the highlights was the purchase of Tillicum Ski Hill and the renovations to turn it into a Girl Guide Camp. Barb played an instrumental part in making this happen. Crafts were more than a hobby to Barb. Her love of sewing and crafts led her to be a long time member of Farmers Market. She was also a member of Creative Chaos for 30 years, serving as President for two years.

Barb is survived by her loving family: son, Ken (Dana) of Golden and their daughter, Annah; daughter, Cindy, and her son, Kyle Wasylyszyn of Vernon; sister, Terry Beaton of Sydney, BC, brother, Dan (Maureen) Beaton of Sydney, BC, two nephews, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 17th, 2011 from 1-4 p.m. at the Tillicum Girl Guide Camp at 7323 Dixon Dam Road.

In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Barb may do so to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
