Born in Ottawa November 15, 1950 to parents Marjorie Joan Semple (née Davis) of Verdun, Quebec and Errol Quarrier Semple of Quebec City. Brenda's early childhood was as a daughter of an RCAF pilot stationed at Rockcliffe and Trenton airbases, Ontario. The family moved to the beautiful Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and Brenda went to public school on the airbases of Greenwood and Summerside for ten years. Returning to Ontario, her family lived on the air base at Centralia in London, Ontario for a year before her father's retirement. Brenda graduated from high school at Oakridge Secondary School, London, Ontario, in 1970.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Western Ontario in 1974. After a year of travelling in Europe Brenda began a long nursing career in British Columbia, first in Vancouver and then Quesnel. In 1979 Brenda moved to Vernon where she worked at Vernon Jubilee Hospital until her retirement in 2005. Brenda purchased her property on Silver Star in 1983 where she resided until her death. Her recent companions included her horse Jana, her two cats Dickens and Pixie, and her dog Kenzie, until his death in June of this year.
Brenda was active in the North Okanagan Therapeutic Riding Association and the Vernon Community Arts Centre. Her bequest to the Community Foundation of North Okanagan is a testament to her love
