Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Beverly, and daughters Dawn (Brent) and Kelly; grandchildren Melody, Bryan, Danielle; and great grandchildren Jackson and Callie.
Charlie was born in Cowansville, Quebec. About 20 years ago Charlie and Beverly made a big move to Vernon BC from Quebec to be closer to family.
Charlie enjoyed many adventures exploring the new province. Some of his favorite ways to spend his days included going to yard sales, markets, long car rides and fairs with Beverly. He was a fisherman who took great joy in the calmness of the lake in his boat. He was a self learner in many aspects and was always open to learning more. He would often be found outside in his coveralls by his garage building or repairing something. He was an excellent car mechanic. He was happy to take the time to teach others what he knew. It was clear he felt proud and useful to share his expertise. Charlie had quite the sweet tooth and could easily eat a whole pie, cake or package of cookies. Although he was not a fussy eater, Charlie especially enjoyed when Beverly made his favorite meals of salmon or haddock.
Charlie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and over time it slowly robbed him of his memory and his interests. Alzheimer’s dims the lights in a person’s eyes but whenever he saw his sweet great granddaughter Callie, his eyes lit up and a big smile moved across his face which brought a simple joy to us all to see such a playful reaction.
Bev has always described Charlie as a loving and kind husband. Charlie will always be remembered and missed.
A private Celebration of Life will be held shortly.
