November 7, 1950 - January 20, 2024
In the very hospital where Mom was born, with the love of her family surrounding her guiding the way, Mom took her last breath and her journey on earth was complete. She valiantly battled cancer for nearly 2 years amid the tragic loss of her husband Ken of 46 years on October 31, 2022 and then her youngest son Robbie on January 22, 2023. Mom left this world at peace, ready for her next adventure, where she was to be reunited with her many lost loved ones and friends. Mom was further predeceased by her mother Anne in 1979, brother Ken in 1987, father Harold (Sonny) in 1998, brother Richard (Dick) in 2010 and sister Patricia (Patty) in 2012
Donna's greatest passion was her family. She loved her grandchildren dearly - she never missed an opportunity to attend dance recitals, soccer games or watch skateboard videos. They never missed a holiday and a chance to spend time with her. Easter egg coloring will be forever changed, but the tradition will live on. Her love for arts & crafts was shared with her grandchildren and her many extended family members and friends. Donna was the last surviving member of her immediate family and often referred to herself as the 'Matriarch of the Hall's'. She took this role quite seriously and shared her love with her numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Donna is survived by her daughter Kerri Mandzuk, grandchildren Dakota and Trinity (Eric), son Shawn Lapp, grandchildren Jessica (Tyron), Shanelle and Lylla and grandson Isaac.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Community Care Team 3 for the amazing home support, and the many hospitalists, nursing and support staff at VJH for the compassionate care mom received over her many hospital stays. In addition, many thanks to the Level 6 staff for the kindness bestowed upon the immediate family during mom's final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Elk's Hall in Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Mom's memory may contribute to the BC SPCA.
