Freda Elaine Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated foster parent, passed away peacefully at Noric House on June 1, 2025. Born on March 3, 1940, Freda spent much of her life in Vernon, BC, where she devoted herself to caring for children through the Ministry of Children and Families as a foster parent for many years.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Carly (Marcel) Bouzane, and her cherished grandchildren: Jayden, Nicolas, LeeAnn, Yvonne, Jolyn, and Kelly. Freda’s warmth and generosity touched many lives, and her family was central to her heart.
Freda was predeceased by her son, Warren Walker, in July 2002; her father, Fred Umpherville, in June 2011; and her mother, Mary Umpherville, in February 2013.
Her legacy of kindness and compassion lives on in all who knew her. Freda will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
