Gordon Noel Hardy

Noel was born on August 1, 1948, in Winnipeg, MB, to Leslie and Lois Hardy. He grew up in Winnipeg, and as a young adult, he lived in Vancouver, BC, where he served as a police officer, before beginning a long career as an insurance adjuster. His work took him to several cities, including Prince George where he was a Fireman, Calgary, and Saskatoon, before settling in Vernon, BC, in 1987. He was also a Coronor, and Private Investigator.

Noel met his first wife, Carol, in Prince George, BC. They were married in 1977, and together they raised three sons. After Carol’s passing in 2016, Noel married Linda in 2018.

He was known for his big personality and his equally big handshakes and hugs. Noel loved the outdoors, especially camping, and he cherished every moment spent with family—most of all with his grandchildren. As a large man with an even larger heart, Noel carried a presence that people never forgot.

Noel loved the Lord, and his booming voice could often be heard singing along with his favorite quartet groups such as the Gaithers and the Cathedrals, as well as to classic tunes from the ’60s.

For the past five years, Noel bravely battled a heart condition. Through it all, he remained a trooper—steadfast, strong, and faithful. Noel passed peacefully in his sleep, entering into the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.

Noel is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons Lane (Nicole), Sean (Domi), and Tyler (Cari); and his grandchildren Indy, Anneli, Savy, Raquel, Annie, and Henry. He is also survived by his stepson Cody (Joy) and his step-grandchildren Cason, Tate, and Kelsie, as well as his brothers Brian (Roberta) and Allan (Evelyn). He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Lois Hardy, and by his first wife, Carol.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Vernon on Friday, December 12, at 1 p.m. and livestreamed.

The interment will be held Saturday December 13 at 10:30 AM at the Coldstream Cemetery
