Butch passed away peacefully at the Vernon Hospice House on May 3, 2014 at the age of 65 after a brief but courageous
battle with cancer.
Born to Margret Jean and Thomas Mitchell Calvert on December 16, 1948, he’s been everything from a fire fighter in his youth, a Sgt. in the Militia as a young man where he met his wife, a heavy duty mechanic for Telus for the bulk of his career
and an RV technician after he decided he didn’t like retirement. He lived life to the fullest, never leaving the fun for another day. Enjoying a wide range of interests over the years including snowmobiling, car racing, curling, golfing, go karting, camping and cooking, he touched many lives and made many friends. He especially enjoyed his Saturday lunches and fishing trips with the boys.
Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Verley; their 2 children, Gwen (Shane) and Leanne; two grandchildren, Jamie and Shania; three sisters: Marnie (Gord) Turnell, Sandy (Larry) Jackson, and Patricia Routledge; nephews and nieces: Jarrit,
Ian, Carol, Nick and Jessica; honorary Mom, Vine, and extra sister, Barb; numerous cousins and close friends who are too many to name. He will be forever missed.
We welcome all Butch’s friends and family to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the North Okanagan Hospice House in Butch’s
name.
