

James Alexander ”JIM” Robertson passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 18, 2014 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 78 years. Jim was born to Hazel and Robert Robertson on February 28, 1936 In Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (although he always told us his birthday was February 23rd). He was the sixth of eight children. In the early forties the family moved to the Okanagan Valley, They settled in Vernon on South Vernon Dr.
Growing up Jim spent many hours fishing in the creek which ran along the back of the property. He attended Baristo Elementary School. Jim travelled around working on various jobs. He met Marlene Rosenberg while back in Vernon, They were married on June 28, 1959, and his new bride travelled to Alert Bay, BC., Where he worked in a logging camp on a small island. After their first born (Jeanne) they decided to move back to Vernon to raise their family and have been here ever since. Jim loved the outdoors where he prospected for minerals, hunted and fished. Many hours of his time were spent camping by a lake or creek just enjoying the outdoors. We will always remember his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his loving family, Wife Marlene, one Son David of Enderby, three daughters, Jeanne (Miles) Kilback, Diane Johnstone, and Margaret Robertson all of Vernon, seven grandchildren, Brandon and Brody Markel, Bradley, Bryan and Katie Andretta, Brittany and Kenny Johnstone, two great grandsons, Blake Andretta and Cooper James William Markel.
Jim is further survived by four sisters, Dorothy Brodland, Jean Major, Ruth McIntosh and Esther Coombs,
two brothers, Jack and Bob Robertson. Jim was predeceased by his parents Robert and Hazel Robertson and one brother Kenneth.
