John Charles Alexander Sawicki, born to John and Lauretta Sawicki on September 4th, 1941 in New Westminster, B. C. passed away peacefully in Hospice House on November 22, 2013.
John is survived by: his loving wife, Arlene; son Kevin; sisters, Marlene and Lynnette; and brother Bob.
John had a long, proud and distinguished career with the Canadian Armed Forces. He joined the service as an Apprentice Soldier in 1958 and retired as a Royal Canadian Artillery Major in 1996. His career with the Armed Forces took him and his family across Canada, to Europe and Cyprus.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and North Okanagan Hospice Society for their caring and kindness during this very difficult time.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring. For those wishing to attend, there will be a notice in the paper closer to the date of the service.
In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of John may do so to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B. C. V1T 1S4.
