Taken from us far too soon, it is with deep sadness that we announce that Joseph Jack (Joe) was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 5th, 2010. Joe immigrated to Canada in 1971 from Ohio with his family and made his home in the Mabel Lake Valley. Originally, the family raised hogs and the farm was known as “Pig City”. With a special bovine talent, Joe took over the farm and raised cattle. He was full of passion for life and loved his family, his friends, the great outdoors, hunting and fishing. A vibrant rugged man with a sensitive and humorous side to him, “Shona do you have something with chocolate wrapped around it?” – always full of wisecracks and nicknames for nearly everyone. Always there to lend a hand, he spent much of his time helping those in need in the community.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Shona of eleven years, two sons, Lee and Jesse, and two daughers, Jackie-Lynn and Jamie
Pete and Joe are further survived by their father, Howard, of Lumby, three brothers, Bob ( Deb) of Coldwater, Ohio, Jim (Charlene) and Bill (Angel) all of Lumby, seven sisters: Joan (Len) Foisy, Jean (Al) Goettemoeller of Lumby, June (Andrew) Pfannschmidt of Vernon, Sally (Mike) Schmackers of Coldwater, Ohio, Susan of Lumby, Mary (Mike) Mulholland of Lumby and Ann (Bill) Verhage of Cherryville, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Pete and Joe were predeceased by their mother, Irene, in 2001.
Prayers will be recited for Pete and Joe on Sunday, September 12th, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 13th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with Father Dale Normandeau and Pastor Phil Johnson of Osoyoos Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Coldstream Cemetery.
