A true daughter of the mountains, Karen adored the Okanagan and made her home in Vernon from the 1980s onward, reveling in its abundant natural beauty. She was driven by a passionate call to leadership and an unshakeable faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, dedicating her service to churches in her local community and participating in numerous mission trips to far flung corners of the globe. Her fierce individualism, caring heart, thirst for knowledge, and spellbinding storytelling skills made her a fascinating conversationalist and an unforgettable, unconventional presence to all who encountered her. She will be remembered as a protective mother who loved her children deeply.
She is survived by her husband Rick and children Clinton, Joy, and Jeordyn, as well as siblings Eugene, Vi, and Evie and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one grandchild. She is predeceased by her parents Eva and Jacob Neufeld and her son Lance Waller, with whom we are certain she has ecstatically reunited.
“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation.” —Rumi
