

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Martha Mae Giroux (Marti) née Maksymchuk. Marti was born in Enderby on March 21, 1950 to Amelia and Thomas Maksymchuk of Grindrod, British Columbia. Marti moved to Vernon where she attended school. She was active in sports and loved the water. Her desire was to become a flight attendant and travel the world, but due to a height restriction this was not to be. So when Marti graduated she headed to England where she worked and traveled around Europe for four years. She returned home and started working in a local law firm. She moved to the LMD where she continued working in her chosen career advancing to a position of a para legal with a Vancouver law firm. Marti semi retired when she moved back to Vernon. Marti was a volunteer with Vernon Winter Carnival, Vernon’s Together for Christmas, and Vernon’s Wildlife Festival. Marti also volunteered as a foster for the OHS and the SPCA.
She is survived by husband Lorne, her sister Lucy Dase [her son Ken Dase and family] and her brothers Andrew Maksymchuk his wife Myra [his son Wade Maksymchuk and family and his daughter Lesa Maksymchuk] and her brother Tim Maksymchuk his wife Debbie [his daughter Iya Taylor and family and his son Bryce Maksymchuk and family]
Service to be held on May 4th, 2026 at 11:00 at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Vernon Okanagan humane Society or Salmon Arm SPCA.
