Patricia Marie Rookes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Patricia Marie Rookes on Monday December 29,2025. Patricia wore many hats; she was a daughter, sister, wife, Mom, stepmom, grandma, great grandma (GG), aunty and a friend.

Mom leaves to mourn her children Marena (Guy) Legare, Gerald (Wendy) Bennett, Christopher (Tammy) Bennett, Brenda Bennett (Randy Burns). Her step children Kevin (Marilyn) Rookes, Allan (Kathie) Rookes, Tanya (Bill) Zapf and Clayton (Kris) Rookes.

Patricia will be missed by her grandchildren Barry, Patrick, Rachel, Shandralee, Kimberly, Kyle and their significant partners. Her step grandchildren Jessica, Dylan, Madison, Blake, Riley, Darcy, Dan, Nicolas, Mercedez, Maylaiza. Also mourning her passing are several great grandchildren.

Mom is survived by her brother Terrill (Anne) Stanton. Also grieving are her sister in laws and brother in laws, Beverly (Lawrence) Ridley, David (Gail) Rookes and Karen (Darryl) Sochan.

She was predeceased by both her husbands Harvey Ralph Bennett and Everett Harry Rookes, her mother, father, several sisters, brothers and inlaws.

Mom was born March 16, 1941 in Hamilton, Ontario. She was 84 years old. Mom had multiple jobs over her lifetime with the last one being a librarian assistant in Sparwood. Mom along with Everett were volunteers with the Lions and the local thrift stores. When Mom and Everett moved to Vernon in 2011 she volunteered at the Schubert Centre Thrift Store. Mom had many passions, bowling, horseshoes, swimming, camping, fishing and more. Mom was a happy person, kind and friendly. Even in her days with dementia she always had a smile and a kind word or compliment to anyone she saw. She will be greatly missed by so many people, even those that lived and cared for her at Noric House.

Patricia’s wishes were to be cremated. There are plans for a celebration of life in the spring.
