It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vivian Marie Bridgette, who left us on April 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Vivian was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, dedication, and passion.
Vivian's early years were marked by her achievements as a track and field athlete at Toronto Collegiate High School. She went on to become a respected radiologist at Toronto General Hospital before moving to Vancouver, BC, where she met her beloved husband, Don Wiggans. They shared many happy years together until Don's passing in 2015.
Before her marriage to Don, Vivian was married to Victor Bridgette, with whom she raised four wonderful children: Tom, Cheryl, Judy, and Sean. Vivian's love for knitting, classical music, playing the piano, lawn bowling in Vernon, and curling at UBC were well-known to those who knew her. She was also a talented concert pianist before relocating to Vancouver.
In 1996, Vivian retired to Vernon, BC, where she enjoyed a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by family, friends, and her cherished cat, Ralphie. For over a decade, Vivian was a resident at Kaigo Heritage Square in Vernon, BC, where she received compassionate care as she navigated the challenges of dementia.
Vivian was predeceased by her first husband Victor (2002), her daughters Judy (1995) and Cheryl (1992) her husband Don (2015). She leaves behind her sons Tom and Sean, her grandchildren, Caelen (16) and Reilly (13), who reside in Saskatoon, SK. Despite the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, they visited her as often as possible, bringing joy to her final years.
Vivian will be remembered for her wit, feistiness, and the love she shared with those around her. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Kaigo Heritage Square for their unwavering care and support.
Vivian's legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
