William Kan Miwa

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gloria and his cherished daughter, Dr. Jill Miwa of Aarhus, Denmark. Also his step-daughters, Kerry (Chris) Marshall of Brockville, ON, Lesley Sturla of Ottawa, ON. Sisters Dale Johnstone, Salmon Arm, Dorothy O’Brien, Surrey. Step-grandchildren: Sidney and Colin Marshall and Brendan and Kurtis Morey, all of Brockville, ON. Nieces Dr. Shaunne (Greg) Gorrie, Aldergrove, Alison Nishihara, Vancouver, nephews Mark (Sheila Campbell) Nishihara, Vernon, Sean (Karen) O’Brien, Coquitlam, Conn (Loreto) O’Brien, Delta. As well as 6 grandnieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Ikuma Roy Miwa and Atsuko Mary Miwa, sister June Nishihara and brother Richard (Dick) Miwa, and step-daughter Angie Morey. Brothers-in-law Howard Johnston, William O’Brien and James Nishihara.

Bill was an entrepreneur, with a business in Kelowna, until his retirement in 2011. His interests were many. Family first, his home, and Vintage Cars. He was also well known for his generosity of time in helping family, friends and neighbours. He will be profoundly missed by his loving wife Gloria and loving daughter Jill.

A date for a Celebration of Life will be announced later, in the summer. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home, 250-542-0155.
