Alan was well loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Alan met Eleanor when they were both living in Mississauga. He had moved to the Toronto area because of the music scene there at the time. They moved with their 4 children in a moving truck and a VW bug to Vancouver, BC in 1970. Peter joined the family in 1973.
He moved to Victoria in 1982. He loved being by the ocean and going to the many beaches in Victoria.
Our hearts are broken.
Alan and Eleanor spent many years traveling in their VW Westfalia. They crossed the continent twice. They especially loved Louisiana, Utah, and closer to home Long Beach and Osoyoos. They danced in the ballroom, under the sky at folk festivals and in the kitchen.
Alan started his career as a chemist, having earned his Masters Degree in Chemistry at Louisiana State University, after attending the University of Bristol. Alan was a lifelong learner, he worked in the 70s as a systems analyst. While working and raising 5 children he obtained his Certified Management Accounting degree. He worked as an accountant at WCB before moving to Victoria where he worked at the Solicitor Generals office and later Pharmacare.
He had a great sense of humour; there was always laughter in the house.
