Anamy Te, fondly known as Ng Bbi’Siong among her friends, passed away on April 11,2026 at the Victoria General Hospital.
Born in Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines.
Anamy was still a young child when the Second World War reached the shores of the Philippines. In later years, she would share vivid memories of that turbulent time with her children—of her family’s displacement to the remote mountains of Jimenez, and of her father’s quiet strength as he worked tirelessly to provide for them amid hardship and uncertainty.
In the years following the war, Anamy resumed her education, entering primary school later than most. Undeterred, she distinguished herself through determination and resolve. During her high school years, she met the man who would become her lifelong partner. She was also an active and accomplished athlete, proudly playing on the ladies’ varsity basketball team.
Anamy married her beloved partner, and together they built a life centered on family, raising four children. As a young mother, she demonstrated remarkable resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, establishing and managing a wide range of businesses—including a hair salon, a nail spa, a bespoke dress shop, as well as retail and wholesale ventures in household goods.
In her later years, following her retirement, Anamy and her husband immigrated to Canada, where she spent the remainder of her life, surrounded by family and the legacy of the life she had so thoughtfully built.
Predeceased by her spouse Tinghan Te, and her son Anthony Te
Survived by her children Jean, Jimmy, Evangeline and her grandchildren Jade, Mae, James, Elisha, Chloe, Keith, Sean, and Matthew.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 4040 Nelthorpe St., Victoria, BC on the 28th of April, 2026 at 3:00pm.
