She was predeceased by her son Chris and is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Brian, sons Keith and Bruce (Natalie) together with grandchildren Reilly, Hope (John) and Dixon(Karli) in Canada, and Sky, Jasper and Annabelle in UK.
Andria was born in Chichester, Sussex, England and completed her education as a teacher in Norwich, England.
In 1965 she was supportive of seeking adventure with her husband Brian because she wanted to see the Rocky Mountains and so they emigrated to Alberta so that Brian could take up a teaching position north of Cochrane in the foothills of the Rockies.
In 1969 they moved to Victoria, BC and she lived there for the rest of her days, during which time she brought up her family and enjoyed participating fully in the community of View Royal, which she loved. She and Brian threw themselves into building a larger home for the family.
While raising three sons Andria started to breed corgi dogs and worked as a nursing assistant at the Gorge Road Hospital. But she still found time to volunteer and serve on numerous committees such as Veselka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble, View Royal Natural Habitat action group, and the View Royal Advisory Commission. She founded and ran several charitable organizations such as the Friends of Knockan Hill Park Society, H.E.A.R.T.S., and the Healthy Harvest co-op, a gardening program for young adults with disabilities.
It is fair to say that she was often very busy and rather dirty! She supported H.A,T, (Habitat Action Trust) in their quest for preservation of green spaces, especially in her beloved View Royal, donating part of her own back yard to add to Knockan Hill Park. She also was instrumental in creating the Welland Community Orchard to preserve the orchard created by her friend Rex Welland.
In recognition of her volunteer work, Andria was awarded numerous awards including the Hallmark Award (2003), the Mayor's Award (View Royal in 2005) and the Woman of Distinction Award for Community Legacy (2006).
Andria's gardening program ended due to her failing health. She overcame cancer in 2019, but dementia continued to take its toll and she was eventually cared for by the excellent staff at Sunset Lodge for the last 3 years of her life, for which the family shall always be grateful.
A visitation is planned for Tuesday, December 9 at 2:00 in the First Memorial Chapel at 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria.
A Celebration of life is planned for summer 2026.
Donations in her memory are welcome to the animal or environmental charity of your choice.
