After the love of her life Arnold passed in March, 2003, Aud persevered and continued to live in the family home in West Vancouver for the next 25 years. She found happiness there tending her roses, meeting with friends for coffee and walking along the ocean.
She met the love of her life, Arnold, in Norway, and when he found a job in Canada, in Slave Lake, Alberta (because it was close to Ottawa (he thought)), she followed. First by Fred Olsen Freighter to Vancouver (she worked for the firm in Oslo, Norway) and then to Slave Lake. Slave Lake was too cold so the happy couple moved to Edmonton. Edmonton was too cold so the young family moved to West Vancouver where her brother Harald also lived. Aud returned to Norway to deliver her first son Erik , her second son Knut was born in Edmonton. Aud was a devoted and nurturing mother who gave her sons a deep appreciation for Norwegian culture and heritage, and always having time to pass on her sewing and cooking skills and motherly advice.
Early on in West Vancouver and for the next ~60 years she and Arnold remained good friends with their neighbours the Hellmuth's.
In West Vancouver Aud found her life work at the the West Van Rec Centre. She worked there for over 20 years, helping people find the programs they wanted.
Family visits were a joy for Aud, her baking skills were amazing and her specialty was Norwegian pastries and cookies; skills she passed on to her sons and grandchildren.
Aud took her last breath on Oct. 28,2025 at the age of 96, after a wonderful life, fully lived.
Aud is survived by sons Knut (Kathy), Erik (Maria), grandchildren, Espen, Magnus and Kristina, and nephews and nieces in Canada and Norway.
