Barb was born June 28, 1939, in Wilkie, Saskatchewan. She grew up with a close family, enjoying all the activities of a small rural town. She spent her childhood busily engaged in: sports, teen town, church activities, and beloved dances. Barb loved to dance. The sound of music would set her body in motion.
After getting married and starting a family, Barb and Glen moved with their two small children to the interior of British Columbia. A year later they continued west to Victoria.
In Victoria, Barb trained and worked at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and Saanich Peninsula Hospital as a laboratory technologist and later as an advanced registered technologist. Throughout her career, Barb demonstrated that she was a strong and determined woman who believed that if you want something: “decide to do it and get on with it!”
She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud of her family and happiest in their company. She would fiercely defend her right to host large family gatherings.
Barb was a talented cook and baker, always ready with freshly baked treats and insisting you take a second helping.
When Barb met Mike, she found her true companion with whom she shared her life until his passing. Together they enjoyed many years sharing a love of social activities, sports and travel.
Barb was fun and full of life. She made friends easily and valued friendship. Her social calendar was busy with activities such as: golf, curling, lawn bowling and events at the Army Navy Veteran’s Club.
She was fearless with her home renovations. Safety was not always a consideration. Armed with her DIY books, she was ready to tackle any job. From plumbing to electrical and anything in between.
Barb was an extremely independent women, maintaining a large home and garden. Often when offered help her response was, “Oh, I can do it” and she did. Barb will be deeply missed by her friends and family but well remembered.
