Brian was born in Vancouver in 1954. He grew up in North Delta, attending Annieville Elementary School and North Delta High School. He married Maureen (Jackson) in 1980. They moved to Sidney in 1981 and then to North Saanich, where they raised their boys Calvin and Mack. He had many jobs over the years. The most memorable being Atlas Aluminum in Surrey, then Heatsavers in Victoria. Eventually, he bought out one owner and worked for himself as BJ Heatsavers Glass & Sunrooms. In 2001 he moved on to a job with Utilities in the District of North Saanich, which is a job he enjoyed very much until his retirement in 2018. Most recently he bought an RV and we had some great camping with friends and family.
Brian was predeceased by his brother Scott in 1991, his brother Ken in 2009, and his father Gordie in 2011. He is survived by his wife Maureen, son Calvin (daughter-in-law Maria, grandkids Jovie and Heath), son Mack, mother Heather, Uncle Len, cousin Nick, and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to his GP Dr. Ruth Caden, Dr. Marsh for organizing palliative care, oncologist Dr. Andrew Atwell, prostate/urologist Dr. John Kinahan, and Saanich Peninsula Hospital for the care given to Brian. It was very much appreciated. Also special thanks to his best buddy Ric Scambler and wife T for their support during the last year and to many others who perked him up when he needed it. He always loved a beer and a laugh.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial funeral home at 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, from 2 to 4:30 pm on Saturday, September 24th. A donation in Brian’s memory may be made to Prostate Cancer BC.
