Curtis was a loyal son, brother and friend to many. He enjoyed helping others, supporting the underdog and was concerned with the plight of the homeless. Curtis loved animals and the ocean and spontaneous get-togethers; he was a thrill seeker rising to the challenge of adventures such as skateboarding, dirt bike riding, snowboarding and various sports. Some of his experiences turned into misadventures landing him in the hospital on several occasions.
After graduating from the University of Victoria, Curtis moved to Ottawa, contracting with the National Research Council of Canada, where he had worked as a co-op student. He was an electrical and software engineer. After returning to Victoria, Curtis began working as a Scientist Engineer for RWDI Consulting Engineers and Scientists. He was pleased with a recent promotion. His side gig was Chief Technology Officer for a start-up company called Out of Print. Working with two partners, Curtis developed a software application that used both print monitoring and behavioural modification strategies to reduce overall printing in an office setting.
Curtis was an independent thinker with strong leadership abilities. He admired the quiet dignity and sense of duty of Queen Elizabeth and was saddened by her recent passing.
Curtis endured years of mental health challenges that seemed to resist current treatments. He was a sensitive soul but tried to put on a brave face. Life was often a struggle, but his kindness, generosity, compassion and courage helped him carry on through the dark times.
Those who knew and loved this unique, endearing and sweet young man can take comfort in knowing Curtis is no longer suffering as his spirit sails on into the mystic. Love lives on in our hearts forever and connects us all.
Rest in peace, Curt. Love always.
