

Predeceased by his parents Wilhelm & Leokadjia, his siblings, Edward, Lilli Ayotte, and Alvin.
Dennis is survived by his children Alisa Gains, Ryan (Aimee), Andrea, Nicole Thomson & his grandchildren Cyrah (Italo), Stephen, Adelaide, Nataya & Sloane, his siblings Garry (Laura), Diane Finnemore (Bill) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Dennis was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He left his home town after graduating from High School in 1968 and moved to Saskatoon where he worked at Canada Safeway until he joined the Saskatoon Police Force as a cadet at age 19.
He met, then married Nancy Irwin in 1971. They had 4 children together.
Dennis resigned from the police force to travel across Canada, then Europe & Mexico with his wife, Nancy, in 1973. They settled in Calgary three years later, where they opened their first Deli in 1977, which would become a chain called RyDen’s.
Dennis & Nancy moved their young family to Victoria in 1985, leaving the restaurant industry two years later. Dennis worked in sales with Victoria Nissan where he established himself as a master salesman. Six years later he decided to become a Real Estate Agent and in the first year he earned a spot in the top 10 in the city.
Dennis lived a social, fast paced life. He is remembered for his infectious laugh and remarkable ability to embrace people from all walks of life, making each person feel genuinely cherished and welcome.
Friends are invited to join the family at 12:30pm on November 1, 2023 for a Memorial Service at Church of Our Lord, 626 Blanshard Street, followed by a gathering in the “Big Man’s” style at The Union Club, 805 Gordon Street from 1:30-4pm.
