Predeceased by her father, Walter Dunford; mother; Elizabeth Dunford; grandson; Maxwell Higley and cats Snookie #1 Snookie #2 and Snookie #3.
Survived by her son, Matthew Higley (Angela); and grandchildren Robert Higley and Madison Cooper Higley; daughter Dinah Higley (Rene); and grandchildren Parker Spoor, Ava Spoor and Maggie MacGillivary.
Diane spent her formative years in Port Credit, then resided in Streetsville, Ontario after marriage, before relocating to Saanichton BC to assist her parents with their declining health.
Diane had a passion for travelling, dancing, clothes shopping and occasionally, one might have caught glimpses of her cruising around town in her sports car.
Diane contracted Transverse Myelitis in late November 1983 resulting in paralysis from the waist down for over half of her life. Our mother constantly demonstrated remarkable resilience, strength, and courage throughout her journey. Her humour and poise made everyone feel at ease, and she never sought sympathy.
Diane enjoyed being a housewife for most of her years but dabbled in a few professions before retiring in 1998.
On November 30th, 2025, Diane, in true fashion, exited her final stage left while her care aide was grabbing her juice and her nurse was bringing her dinner medications. That woman always liked to shock people!
Thank you to both Selkirk (AL) and The Kiwanis Pavillion for providing exceptional and compassionate care for Diane in her final years.
Diane will always be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Please join us in raising a cup of strong tea or coffee, a brown cow, perhaps a green banana or a chocolate eclair in honor of Diane!
A celebration of life will be announced early in the spring of 2026.
