

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Don is survived by his loving wife Vida of 66 years and their children Stuart, Stephen, Sharon and son-in-law Peter. Their grandchildren Melanie and Tyson.
He was born in Storthoaks Saskatchewan, brought up in England then returning to Canada.
Don loved the uniform and law enforcement: At age 15 he joined the British Royal Navy and led as a torpedo and anti-submarine instructor. Married Vida and moved to Canada. He Policed in Saskatoon and at the same time joined the Canadian Navy Reserve. He and his family left Saskatoon in 1970 and moved to England for a year, becoming a bobby. The family settled on Vancouver Island in 1971. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the Navy Reserve and as a Sergeant from the Central Saanich Police Department.
In retirement he spent many hours supporting ANAF Sidney branch. Don and Vida loved traveling to Puerto Vallarta and Palm Springs. He also thoroughly enjoyed working outdoors in the yard.
Don valued his family more than anything. He was a true gentleman and a people person who always had a big smile and a welcoming handshake.
A celebration of life will be held at the Army Navy Air Force (ANAF) on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
