He is survived by his wife Jo, their children; daughter Paula ( Owen, Alayna), son David/Jenna (Brandon, Hayley, Finn) & his best gal Molly.
The majority of Ed's career was in service. He was an orderly at St Joseph's hospital, then worked at Garden City Ambulance where he found his true calling. That led to long hours of studies, while working, to become one of Victoria's first group of Advanced Life Support Paramedics.
He loved speed! If it wasn't an ambulance with lights and sirens going, it was a fast car. He loved the rumble of the pipes and from those days he got his nickname Fast Eddy.
He played Fastball and for many years, enjoying the camaraderie of teammates, the joy of the game, the ice cold pitchers of beer & the rousing discussions post play. His blue eyes twinkled with good humour and mischief.
His door was always wide open, the basement suite was never empty. He welcomed those who needed a place to live and who became members of his family; it was a gift!
As a family we wish to say a special thanks to " Auntie Barb" for keeping her sister company at home, at the hospital, in the wee hours of the mornings & all times in between.
He was appreciative of his family, of his friends who were able to visit and of the extraordinarily skilled Doctors, Nurses and hospital staff on the Palliative Care Unit at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your warmth, care and making everyday comfortable for him and our family.
We miss him dearly.
A private celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
