
Hugh was born in 1925 in Penticton, BC, to parents Dorothy and Norman Lyons. He grew up in New Westminster, BC. Graduated from UBC & was a Professional Forester. He worked for the BC Government for 35 years. Hugh married Marguerite in 1951 and they brought up three children: Ord, Mary, and Kevin in Victoria, BC, while living close to his mother Dorothy and in-laws Ord and Irene Butters.
Hugh lived a wonderful life and he enjoyed many hobbies. He loved boating with his family and going to the small islands near Oak Bay. He loved fishing, duck hunting, walking the dog, hikes and picnics, playing bridge, gardening, lapidary and silver-smithing, dinners and get togethers with family and friends. Hugh and Marguerite retired to Saanich and loved walking the Beaver and Elk Lake trails. When Marguerite passed away, Hugh moved to the Berwick Royal Oak and made some wonderful friends. His last two years were spent in Sidney Allcare where the staff took fine care of Hugh and he loved his outings, dinners, and visits with niece Susan.
He is survived by Ord (Marie), and children Michael, Victoria, and Nicole; Mary (Mark) and children Stephen and Andrea; Kevin (Margo) and son Erik, Sister-in-law Millie Lyons; nieces, Nancy and Maureen; Sister-in-law Mary Jameson; nieces Susan and Kate, and nephew Alexander.
Hugh was pre-deceased by his wife, Marguerite; parents Norman and Dorothy Lyons; brother Ron; in-laws Ord and Irene Butters and his brother-in law John Jameson.
Hugh loved having a glass of scotch in the evening, we drink a toast to him and a life well-lived.
We'll miss him dearly but his memory will live on.
