It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Dad. Eugene was born in Ponta Delgada, San Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He grew up farming, served in the Army and became a bus driver. Eugene immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he worked a variety of jobs, coached and managed soccer, he was an avid gardener which led to him establishing Da Silva Garden and Landscaping in 1964. He took great pride in keeping the grounds of some prominent gardens in downtown Victoria immaculate and in full bloom. He retired in 2000 passing the business torch to his sons, Duart and Ernie. Eugene continued to keep a watchful eye on their workmanship often showing up to supervise and for coffee time. Eugene loved to travel especially to Portugal, Hawaii and Reno.
