8 February 1942 - 16 December 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Gordon. Born in Victoria, and lived and worked in Victoria his entire life. He worked as a cook on fishing boats in his early days, but preferred to be on land once he met his life long partner, Fern. They met through Gord's sister, and he asked her to marry him on their first date. She said yes, and they were married for 57 beautiful years.
Gord was an entrepreneur and owned his own restaurant - The Mariners Inn in Oak Bay; opened Jersey City T-shirt shop in Harbour Square Mall; and then settled in to raise their adopted son and daughter, Ross and Sara, while Fern taught. He had many different jobs, everything from gas station attendant, selling xmas trees, and driving stretch limousines for over 20 years. He was involved with the Victoria Shamrocks Lacrosse club as a director for a few years, and a supporter for many.
Gord is predeceased by his wife, Fern, his father Gordon Fredrick Bergstrom and his mother Margaret Louise Bergstrom (nee Hall). He is survived by his two adopted children, Ross Fredrick Bergstrom and Sara Janine Bergstrom and many nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt thanks goes to the staff at The Summit at Quadra Village for their support and care of Gordon the last 3 years of his life.
