He is lovingly remembered by his son Mark, daughters Hilary(Marcel) and Daphne, grandchildren Mallory(Cameron) and Matthew(Celeste), great grandson Daxton and remaining siblings in Holland. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Irene in 2017.
John was born in Deventer, Holland immigrating to Canada in 1949. He had strong Dutch roots and was proud of his heritage. He visited Holland often, enjoying the time spent with siblings and their families.
John worked primarily in purchasing and sales, but his lifelong passion and greatest skills were in woodworking and horticulture. He built his home on his beloved Bear Hill which included a second home – his workshop. There, he worked tirelessly, before and after retirement on many projects including building furniture, grandfather clocks and countless others. His apple orchard and ornamental trees were his pride and joy.
This last year he resided at Douglas Care Community. We very much appreciate and thank all the staff for their wonderful care of our father.
Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held in the future by family members.
