Joyce Ellen Barber

Beloved mother to Kate, David(Audrey), and Jeffrey (Martha). Sweet Grams to Jonathan, Joanna (Matt) , Elena (Jacob) Elise (Ryan) , Austin (Camas) and Micah (Shannon) and great grandmother GG to Kai and Owen. Predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Ruth and Stan, brothers Harry and Stanley, grandson Nathan and many extended family and friends.

Joyce was a nurse by profession and an exceptionally dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who cared for her family endlessly. She was a vibrant and special lady who impacted all who knew her with her steady presence, her generosity and unwavering kindness. She will be greatly missed, remembered warmly and forever loved by all who knew her.

Cremation to take place in Victoria, BC and interment of ashes in Toronto, Ontario. Celebration of life to be arranged. In lieu of flowers Joyce would appreciate any who wish to donate to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Society, or her favourite charity, Sleeping Children Around the World (a charity dedicated to hand-delivering bedroll kits and supplies to children in underprivileged countries).

Heartfelt gratitude to the Cowichan Palliative Care team, Dr. Van Der Poll, and her dearest family and friends. She was surrounded in a circle of support and love throughout her life, during her illness and in her peaceful passing at home.
