Although it was unexpected, we are thankful she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Judy was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1946 and moved with her family to BC in 1948, settling in the Marpole area of Vancouver. She graduated in 1964 from Sir Winston Churchill High School and thereafter began working for Workers Compensation Board in 1965. She moved to their Victoria office in 1974, where she retired in 2000 after 35 years. While working for WCB she made friendships that lasted decades.
Judy lived a life defined by generosity, kindness, and a deep love for her family and friends. Though she did not have children of her own, she poured her heart into her nieces and nephews. She was an extraordinary aunt and a constant, cherished presence throughout their lives. She showed up for birthdays, holidays, milestones and ordinary days, travelling on countless ferries and buses to be there when it mattered. When she couldn’t physically be there, she was always a phone call away to chat about whatever was going on in their lives, to talk politics or the Blue Jays, and never missed a birthday call! She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Eleanor Bonnyman, and her sister, Barbara Lynn. She leaves behind her sister, Linda (Howie) Vickberg; her brother, Bruce Bonnyman; her nieces, Kelly (Kelly) McLellan, Leanna (Donnie) Smith, Amy Vickberg, Christina Bonnyman, Carly Bonnyman, and her nephew, Brady Lynn, as well as great-nieces Darcy and Ellie and great-nephews Justin, Adam, Cory, Charlie and Roscoe, as well as many cousins.
In keeping with her wishes, no service is planned.
