Karen Trudy Griffin was born in Danville, Quebec in 1947, the youngest of five siblings. She moved to Victoria, BC at the age of 8 with her parents, brother and sisters. In 1968, she married David Leon Griffin of Stockton Heath, England (1931 – 2022), and together they had a son and daughter. Karen devoted her life raising her family, and travelled the world due to her husband's job as a geologist, living in Calgary, London, Singapore, and Perth, Western Australia before returning to Victoria in 2000. She had a deep love for cats, especially her beloved Smudge, a stray rescued from the streets of Singapore in 1987 who was Karen’s close companion for 23 years. Karen enjoyed conversations with friends, relishing discussions on political topics as well as the twists and turns of her favourite TV shows. She was a beloved mom and a friend to many, and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and sense of humour.
Karen was predeceased by her husband David. She is survived by her daughter Susanna who lives in London, son Adam and granddaughter Ariane of Perth, and sister and nephew Jean and Bruce Reid of Victoria BC, as well as her sister Kay Paris of Brighton, UK, and niece and nephews living in the UK, Canada and the US.
