

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Lachman Singh, who left us peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 91. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be remembered for his gentle nature, quiet strength, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him.
Born on June 1, 1934, in Lyallpur, Punjab (now in Pakistan), Lachman was the eldest child of Jawala Singh and Dhanti Kaur. He grew up alongside one brother and four sisters, and in 1993 he made Canada his home, building a life rooted in family, resilience, and love.
Lachman is predeceased by his beloved wife, Vidya Wati, and his son, Arun Kumar.
He is lovingly remembered by his children—Promila Ansari, Anita Surila, Urmila Paul, and Anil Kumar Singh—and by his sons in law, the late Dr. M. A. Ansari, Dr. Surinder Surila, and Harjinder Paul, as well as his daughter in law, Parmjit Kaur.
He was a cherished grandfather to Ruhi Ansari, Adil A. Ansari, Rubita Paul, Robin Paul, Jasmine Paul, Amit Kumar Leal, Ripanu Surin, Dhruv Surin and his wife, Tanya. He especially treasured the joy of spending time with his great granddaughter, Ava Walsh.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria, BC.
Following the service, Sehaj Path Bhog will take place at the Khalsa Diwan Society (Sikh Temple), 1210 Topaz Ave., Victoria, BC, at 12:00 PM.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Victoria General Hospital and the caregivers at Selkirk Seniors Village for their compassion and support during his time in their care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lachman Singh’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
