It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Lily Rose Flynn. She was ill for a brief moment in time and in usual mom fashion, was a fighter to the end. Mom was born May 25, 1930 and raised in Victoria, but spent the last 22 years living in Nanaimo. She worked for BC Hydro, formerly known as the BC Electric Company, for most of her working career. She travelled extensively throughout her lifetime and enjoyed most of the countries she saw, which included spending some winters in Mexico and Yuma, AZ with friends. She split her time between her beloved condo in Nanaimo and her summer place in Parksville. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, sister in law and brother in law. Mom is survived by daughters Patryce (Michael), Wendy (Roger), Tammy (Gord) and son Rusten (Dawn), grandchildren Kristi (Ben), Dana (Lee), Alysha (Trent) in Australia, great grandchildren Lily, Sam, Sabina, Ruby and Sol, sisters Joan Dziadyk and Diane (Pete) Monk and their families, nieces, nephews and friends. A tea to celebrate mom’s life will be held at the First Memorial Funeral Home on Falaise Drive on November 19, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00. A family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Mt. St. Marys Hospital in mom’s name, would be greatly appreciated. She will be greatly missed.
The family would also like to extend their thanks and sincere appreciation to the staff at Mount St Mary’s, who were extraordinary in caring for mom and warmly attended to her needs in the short time she was with them.
