Margaret Mary Audrey May, (nee McManus), passed peacefully on December 22, 2022. Predeceased by her husband Harvey in 2000, Margaret will be forever greatly missed by her three children Kevin, Nicholas and Rosemary, their families, relatives and good friends. Margaret was born in 1926 in Bangor, Northern Ireland and married in 1950. In 1958, they emigrated from Britain and ultimately settled in Victoria. She was a voracious and critical reader as well as an avid walker well into her ‘90s. She considered dark chocolate an absolute necessity when reading a mystery novel, watching ‘Heartbeat’, going for a country drive or walking the sea front. She loved to travel and possessed an infinite curiosity about people and the world. Margaret was quiet and private but fiercely proud of her Northern Irish heritage, retaining the soft Irish lilt her entire life. Her love for music, especially Andrea Bocelli’s voice, filled her home and she enjoyed the Victoria Symphony and the theatre. She taught us compassion and kindness, and to treat others with dignity and respect. Always with a quick smile and a sense of humour, and always there when we needed her for support, love or encouragement - she will be greatly, greatly missed. From all the family a heartfelt thanks to exemplary Royal Jubilee Hospital (4th Floor South) nurses, medical staff, care aids, and especially Dr. MacKenzie, for their compassionate care and kindness.
There will be a private family memorial.
