February 26, 1924 – December 31, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Randall, beloved by all who knew her. Dorothy's kindness and warmth will be deeply missed.
Born on February 26, 1924, in Nanaimo, BC, Dorothy was the younger daughter of Elizabeth and Thomas Richardson. She completed her education in Nanaimo and enjoyed a distinguished 38-year career with the Bank of Montreal in Nanaimo, Port Alberni, and Victoria. Dorothy dedicated over 25 years of service to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, touching many lives with her generosity.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husbands, Norman Bennett and Gerry Randall, her parents, her brother Bill (Florence), sister Esther (Duff) Zral, niece Marilyn Timms, and stepdaughter Shelley Rogers.
In retirement, Dorothy and Gerry embraced their adventurous spirits, traveling extensively to Great Britain, Australia, China, and Europe. They explored Canada, including the Yukon, Alaska, and Haida Gwaii, and journeyed coast to coast in the USA. For several years, they enjoyed wintering in Waikiki, Hawaii, where they made cherished friendships with people from Canada and the USA.
Dorothy leaves behind her special nieces and nephews: Richard (Janet) Zral, Vincent (Janis) Zral, Glenda (Mel) Jans, Martin (Sheryl) Zral, Anita (Bob) Granger, Lori (Richard) Timms, Rick Timms, and their families. She is also survived by Gerry’s sons, Ben (Marie) Randall and family, Gordon (Yolande) Randall, and grandchildren Lance Rogers and Tammy Lepine. Additionally, she leaves behind relatives in Australia and England, as well as many dear friends.
Dorothy found immense joy in staying connected with her family, lifelong friends, and new acquaintances. She never missed a birthday, always sending a card or making a call. In return, she was showered with love and birthday wishes each year. Her 100th birthday celebration in February 2024 was a testament to how deeply she was loved by many.
A private interment for family will take place in the Nanaimo cemetery later this spring.
