Born in Vancouver, BC on March 14, 1956. Predeceased by his late wife, Lis Lebeouf; his second wife Lynn Jarvis, his first wife, Katherine (Kai) Jasper, and his step-son, Wes Belland. Survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Liz); his three children: Jonathan (Jon), Karina and Shane, and his grandchildren: Alyssa, Hayden and Jack.
Paul started his career repairing and rejuvenating player pianos and similar automated musical instruments as a young adult, and was recognized for his efforts in a major review done by the Vancouver Sun newspaper. The business and it’s owner moved back east, and so Paul moved to rejuvenating antique furniture and completed an apprenticeship in French Polishing. He became well known in the Vancouver area for his gifted abilities in that arena. In 1980 the family moved to Victoria where he continued in the field. He owned a van and joined the Victoria Van Club where he met his first wife Kai. They moved to the Sooke, BC area where they raised their three children and he expanded his business opening “Woodchuck Toys and Furniture”, where his passion for woodworking and creativity shone, and his wooden toys were the pride and joy of children in the area.
Paul later moved to Alberta - first Edmonton, where he met Lynn, his 2nd wife. They then moved to Legal, Alberta where they lived for many years until Lynn passed away. A year later, he met his this third wife-to-be, Lis, and they eventually moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where they were married. After Lis’ death in 2020, he moved back to Victoria to reconnect with and be near his children and grand children.
Known for his kindness, laughter, resilience and ample supply of “dad jokes”, he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the nursing and care staff at Oakwood Manor for their care of Paul during his last year. We would also like to thank the attending doctors and nurses at Royal Jubilee for their care and support of both Paul and the family, in particular Dr. Chevalier and Sarah Balabuth, RN.
No service will be held at Paul’s request, but the family appreciates your love and support at this time. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or BC Epilepsy Society in lieu of gifts or flowers is encouraged and appreciated.
