Paul Richard Johnstone

It is with deep sadness the family announces the death of Paul Richard Johnstone on June

13, 2014. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Clara Johnstone, his father-

in-law, Charles Gibbons, and his brothers-in-law, Robert Winger, Brian Gibbons, and Colin

Higgins. Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynne, his daughter and son-in-law,

Jennifer and Benjy Stone, and his granddaughter, Savannah. Paul is also survived by his

sister, Judith Higgins and nieces and nephews, Tara, Bernadette, Tim, Michael, Mary and

Laura and their families, as well as his cousins Ted, Vivian and Dorothy.

Paul worked for the Corrections Ministry at VIRCC for 22 years and for the Ministry of

Children and Families until his retirement. After retirement Paul enjoyed 10 years with the

Royal BC Museum at the information desk. Paul enjoyed his involvement with homestays

of Japanese students for many years. He enjoyed teasing family and friends,

photography, travelling, especially cruising and enjoying family times including special times

with his daughter, son-in-law and most especially with his granddaughter, Savannah.

A special thank you to the staff of the CVU and the Heart Health Unit, 3rd Floor and 4th

Floor South, Kidney Care, Royal Jubilee Hospital for the very kind and compassionate

care of Paul in his last days including Lena Akselson, PD Nurse. Also a very special thank

you to all the doctors who handled his care especially Dr. John Antonsen, Dr. Michael

Perchinsky, Dr.Frank Egan and the staff of the Home Dialysis Unit.

In lieu of flowers donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of

Canada.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise at 2:00 pm on

Monday, June 23, 2014.
