Vic passed away peacefully at the Kiwanis Pavilion, Victoria B.C. after a long struggle with dementia. Vic is survived by his beloved wife Trudy who has been by his side for 60 years, son Duane ( LeAnne), daughter Leanne and grandson Brody.
Vic was born in Wildwood, Alberta in 1941 and grew up and went to school in Edmonton. He took further education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, where he met Trudy. They were married in 1964.
Vic came to Victoria with a friend to fish and loved it so much he moved his family to Victoria in 1975. He loved fishing, and spent many hours on the water on his boat taking friends and family " along for the ride" to fish. He started his own construction company, " Brit Contracting" specializing in commercial renovations. He went on to become " Executive Manager Minor Capital Projects" at the University of Victoria until retiring in 1998. After he retired, he and Trudy spent many wonderful years travelling south for the winter in their 5th wheel.
Vic loved restoring and working on his vintage cars and had an award winning 1956 Thunderbird. He also had a very rare 1928 " Chandler " that is now in a museum near Edmonton. He was a long standing member of the " Island Vintage Thunderbird Club " serving as President more than once. His 1956 TBird was featured on the poster for " Doc and the Doo Waps " many years ago.
Vic was a very special guy, and loved dancing, rock & roll and helping people as well as community volunteering.
Special thank-you to the wonderful staff at the Kiwanis Pavilion that took such great care of Vic in his final years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local SPCA.
