Violet was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on January 1st, 1933, and even after emigrating to Canada in 1953, she retained a deep love of her Scottish roots. Shortly after landing in Toronto, she met her future husband, Rolf Hestler, and they married in 1956. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage until Rolf’s passing in 2010. During their time together, they travelled extensively to Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, and of course, Scotland. Violet especially loved spending time with her family at their cottage in Haliburton, Ontario. They lived in Toronto until Rolf’s retirement after which they decamped to the milder climes of Laguna Beach and West Vancouver.
Violet is survived by her children, Anna and Cameron, and by her nieces and nephews, Alistair Letham, Neil Letham, Johanna Hestler and Andreas Hestler. Violet will also be missed by Richell, who provided care, companionship and laughter.
She enjoyed a long, full and happy life and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
There will be a memorial service held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155 Fort St. Victoria, BC, on 25th November at 2pm.
