Dear Anna and Cameron,

I would like to express my and my mother's heartfelt condolences.

I have many fond memories of Vi. The one that stands out is when she put us up for the night on the way from New York to Silver Star in early 2012. We took her out to the local French restaurant, apparently one of her favourites. During dinner, I told Vi that I would become a father in the summer. Her eyes lit up with interest and care.

As we say in Greece on such occasions, may you live long to remember her.

Fortunately, Rolf and Vi relocated to Vancouver after retirement so we found ourselves, former VWC colleagues, together on Canada’s west coast. We made good use of our time enjoying many enjoyable dinners and outings.  

During Rolf’s illness, and especially after his passing, we grew closer to Vi and came to appreciate her inner strength, love of family and especially how much she missed Rolf whom she frequently referred to as “the love of my life”. 

We miss her lovely smile, sense of humour and quick laugh. We take comfort in knowing that she and Rolf are back together again. Rest in piece, Violet.

Dear Anna, Dimitris, Cam and Stephanie

Our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mum.    

Mrs Hestler was such a special person and a big part of my teenage years. She had such great sense of humour,  putting up with Anna and I singing at the top of our lungs on our many trips to the cottage. And so patient to put up with our antics over the years. She was such a caring person, truly interested in what you had to say and what was going on in your life.

May your  fond memories of your Mum bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

Thinking of Anna & Dimitris, Cameron & Stephanie in the loss of your dear Mother and Mother-in-law.

I had fond memories of spending time with Vi and Rolf, Anna & Cam at their Haliburton cottage....I was even treated to the family slide show!!.

We are glad that Anna and Dimitris (and Suzette) were able to spend time with Violet before she passed...what a blessing to not pass alone

Dear Anna &  Dimitris.  Our heartfelt condolences to you and family.  Vi was such a sweet and loving lady. We remember meeting with her in Sai Kung when she was in Hong Kong and she always had a sweet smile on her face.  I know such times are never easy but I'm sure you will draw some comfort in the fact that she lived an amazing life and her last few years were full of happiness and contentment, thanks to all the love and affection she got from her family.   Our thoughts will be with you on the  25th.  Lots of love, Anjali and Sateen.

Our deepest condolences to you and Cameron, and Steph and Dimitris. Words are never enough but sending you a huge, huge hug in this time of grief. The happy memories are like a raft to carry you through.

In late 1988 , while working for VWSA , I received the call to join VWC in Toronto . An exciting move but one that also presented Barbara and I with some trepidation and doubt ! 
The Hester's were incredibly welcoming and really helpful , for which we are ever grateful . Just two wonderful people . 
I worked very closely with Rolf and Vi was always available should we need advice or help , They made our move so much smoother than it might have been ,
Rest In Peace Vi and know that members of the VWC team hold you in the highest regard ,

Dave and I were so sorry to hear of Vi’s passing. I worked for Ralph for 25 years at Volkswagen  Canada and, after Ralph’s retirement and their moves west, we enjoyed our long phone chats and Vi’s wonderful sense of humour.   She was indeed a special lady.  
We send our deepest sympathies to Cameron and Stephanie, and Anna and Dimitris, as well as all of Vi’s family, at this sad time.  She will be missed.
