Mr. Albert G. "Gil" Brooks

Albert “Gil” Brooks passed away peacefully at his home in his sleep on August 20, 2010. He was born June 21, 1942, in Lockport, New York, to the late James and Vera Wicks Brooks. He was a 22 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. He also retired from Entex after 25 years of service.

Gil is survived by his two children, Paula B. Zappe and husband, Joe of Victoria, and David B. Brooks, M.D. and his wife, Dr. Larissa Brooks of Tucson, Arizona; his four grandchildren, Colton W. Zappe, Clara R. Zappe, Caitlin R. Brooks, Ethan A. Brooks; and his favorite companion “Thor,”his pet Yorkshire terrier.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Jean Brooks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be held at 9:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 28, 2010.
