

Alfredo “Fred” Flores, 78, went to be with the Lord; with his loving family at his side, he passed away at home on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born in Delores, Texas on August 23, 1939 to the late Reyes P. and Sofia Z. Flores, but shortly after, moved to Laredo, TX.
He met the love of his life, Lamar Flores in high school and after graduating Martin High in 1958, they were married in Laredo and moved to Toledo, Ohio to work and raise a family. After moving to Victoria in 1974, Fred worked for DuPont Victoria plant 25 years until retiring in 1999. He later started Fred’s hauling business which he enjoyed.
Fred will be remembered as a devoted husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He was an active and dedicated member of Templo Emmanuel, Assemblies of God Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Fred Flores, Jr.; grandson, Ernest Alaniz Jr.; granddaughter, Angelina Alaniz; brothers, Reyes Flores Jr., Santiago Flores, Roberto Z. Flores and sister, Jesusa Perez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lamar Flores; son, Miguel and wife, Rita Flores; daughters, Sofia and husband, Raymond Caballero, Diana Johnson Alaniz (Don Stafford); sisters, Zulema DeLaSerda, Paz Vieyra; family member, Mike Salavarria; seven grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Alea Johnson, Aaron Johnson (Shaina), Emilio Flores, Rogelio Flores (Mellisa), Aerik Johnson, Melinda Flores. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Malachi, Hailey, Gwenevere, Damian, Abigail, Michael and Rogelio.
The family would like to thank Hospice of South Texas and Dr. Terry Whitehouse for their tremendous care and support. We are also grateful for the legion of compassionate nurses and staff at Detar and Citizens Hospitals, including Dr. Gustavo Sandigo who took such good care of him over the past month.
