Allan Ray Lassmann of Mission Valley went to be with the Lord on the morning of December 28, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1950, to Allen and Billie Askew Lassmann. He loved spending time with his grandparents out in the country, Mission Valley, which became his lifetime home. Allan played baseball and surfed in his younger years, but from the time he picked up a rope, his passion became roping, riding, and raising horses, which you can bet he was riding a good one.
After graduating from Victoria High School, he joined the Army Reserves and later worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, following in his dad's and uncle's footsteps. He swung many loops, entered many rodeos, and loved having a good time, which may have involved having a good crown and seven. However, later in his life, you could find him making up a pot of chicken and dumplings or his grandma’s coffee cake for funerals, birthdays, or simply just because he wanted to.
He faithfully attended Parkway Church, his class reunions, railroad meetings, the feed store gossip sessions, and fishing trips with his lifelong friend, Stewart. He loved picking up his wife, Karen, for lunch dates, and he was always in for a good game of poker. He also always found time for story times and treats with Cole Ohrt. Allan lived his life to the fullest and treasured his family and friends. He truly had a heart of gold if you knew him; he enjoyed good laughs, told stories and jokes, and was always willing to share his honest opinion. He and his phone calls will be greatly missed by many.
Allan Ray is survived by his wife, Karen Kaiser Lassmann. His children: Laura (Charles) Kocian, Leighton (Jenny) Lassmann, and Kurt (Monica) Lassmann. His grandchildren are Cheyenne, Coby, and Carlyssa Borchert. He is also survived by his sister Becky Lassmann, nieces Jackie Lassmann Parsons (Mike) and Dawn Feuge, and his great nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by several close “family members,” and you know who you are.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Jack and Virgie Mason Askew, and Kurt and Abby Kelly Lassmann, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and his special friends.
Services for Allan will be at Parkway Church with a visitation starting at 10 and a funeral at 11. There will be a reception following the service at the church.
Honorary pallbearers are Randal Eggemeyer, Boogie Schoeder, Stewart Hunt, Ricky and Casey Cox, DJ Whitlow, Joe Weaver, and Cole Ohrt.
