Barnett Dean Bauer

Barnett "Barney" Dean Bauer, age 82 passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Barnett was born May 19, 1940 in Del Norte, Colorado to the late Marian Doris Elwood Bauer and Barnett William Bauer. He graduated from Del Norte High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after 3 years of service. He worked as a police officer in Alamosa, Colorado and then as an undersheriff in Del Norte, Colorado for 17 years. He then worked 17 years in Limon, Colorado at the Limon Correctional Facility.

Barney is survived by his wife, Cecilia Hubbard Bauer; sons, Christopher Bauer and Shannon Woodke; daughter, Belinda Jo Bauer; step-daughters, Maurita Dunn, Mandy Larranaga, Kecia Correll Glover (Earl) and Tiffany Correll Koliba (Russell); step-son, James Correll (Melissa); sister, Carla Bauer Medina; sister-in-law, Diane Bauer; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Barnett William Bauer; mother, Marian Doris Elwood Bauer; brother, Dallas Bauer; and sister and brother-in-law, Ida May Bauer Foley (Wayne).

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
