

Bernard Frank Johnson, 83, of Victoria passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He was born August 30, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Christian Marion Johnson and Carrie Voss Johnson. Bernard was retired from the Victoria Independent School District where he worked in the maintenance department. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Connie Johnson, of Victoria; daughters, Michele Hamilton and husband, Mike, of Oceanside, California, and Karen Johnsten and her husband, Carl, of Bakersfield, California; sisters, Yvonne Mauer, of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dolores Robinson of Bridge City, Louisiana; brother, Christian Johnson Jr., of Covington, Louisiana; two grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 25, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Todd Heibel, Tyler Heibel and Kenneth Kurtz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Romanowski, Wally Walters and Don Ayers, Tom Kurtz
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
