

He attended public school in Palacios where he excelled in all sports. He attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma, on a football scholarship. He played semi-pro football for the Wheeling West Virginia Ironmen.
Berney finished his pre-med studies at Ohio State University and attended two years of medical school in Guadalajara, mexico, and graduated from Medical School at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Dr. Keszler had a family practice in Victoria from 1976-1979. He returned to school and received his anesthesiology degree from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He returned to Victoria and retired in 2008.
Survivors include his daughter, Kassandra Kaye Garnett of Austin; son, Kenneth Kyle Keszler of Martins Ferry, Ohio; granddaughters, Chelsea Kaye and Karissa Carroll Garnett of Austin; sisters, Elsie (Sonny) Stafford of Victoria, Margaret (Robert) Linton of Kingsville, and Darlene (Bobby) Walton of Victoria; brothers, James Keszler of Richland, Washington, and Robert Lee (Joy) Keszler of Georgetown; step-daughter, Susan (Gary) Stallard; step-son, Wayne (Beth) Fuller, both of Lufkin; step-grandchildren, Jay Weber of San Antonio, Erika Weber of College Station, Aimee Weber of Austin and Mackenzie Fuller of Lufkin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Haus Keszler.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 4, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, Rev. David Hudson officiating.
