Betty Jean Dickerson Cook was born in Pineville, Louisiana on July 15, 1930 to the late Lillian Lacroix and James Adolph Dickerson, Sr.
She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. In 1972 Betty moved here with her husband William R. “Bill” Cook. Bill preceded her in death in 1988 after 29 years of marriage.
Betty took great enjoyment in volunteering with her friends at the Citizens Medical Center Auxiliary (formerly Pink Ladies) for 19 years. Betty liked to travel and made many trips with the First Ladies of First Victoria Bank. She also traveled internationally with friends and family to England and Germany and across the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Lynda Coker and Katherine St. Clair; and her grandson, Justin Cook whom she raised as a son. She was lovingly known as Nanny to her six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Tim Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Betty requested memorial donations be made to Baptist Children’s Home in Pettus, TX.
