David Joseph Bongers, 65 of Victoria passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, June 28, 2019. He was born June 26, 1954, in Faribault, Minnesota to Robert M. and Rosemary Kalien Bongers. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kim Pluemer Bongers; daughter, Brittany (Logan) Kocian of Houston; sons, Brent Bongers of Elizabeth, CO, Bradley Bongers of Fort Worth; sister, Donna (Russell) Bauer of Faribault, MN; brothers, Richard “Dick” (Darlene) Bongers of Faribault, MN, Art (Penny) Bongers of Pelican Rapids, MN, Luverne (Lila) Bongers
of Faribault, MN; and two grandchildren, Eloise and Everett Joseph Kocian; Mother-in-law, Mary Lou (Karp) Pluemer; sister-in-law, Dixie (Rob) Drager; brothers-in-law, Brian (Julie) Pluemer, Bruce Pluemer, Blake (Kay) Pluemer and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides.
Dave graduated from Faribault High School, Faribault, Minnesota in 1972. He earned his welding certificate from Faribault Vocational/Technical Institute in 1974. He completed the Fluid Power Design and Repair course of study at Granite Falls Vocational/Technical Institute in 1978. Dave was a Millwright for Formosa Plastics Corporation Texas for 27 years and was a Millwright Craft Instructor at Victoria College. In his early years, Dave was an active member and served on the Board of Directors of the Victoria Jaycees. He was also an Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 363, where his sons both earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Dave is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Knights of Columbus #9088.
A favorite day for Dave would be spent wading the flats in POC, working on numerous welding and fabrication projects around the house, or going on various adventures with his family and new grandchildren. Dave was a true Mr. Fix-It, a great fishing partner, a helpful friend to all and he will be missed dearly by many.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be 11 AM Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church with a reception to follow.
Pallbearers will be Art Bongers, Danny Bongers, Luverne Bongers, Mike Sherman, Ralph Schacherl, Richard "Dick" Bongers and Scott Bongers.
