Donald Ray Easley

Donald Ray Easley, 98, of Victoria, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Victoria. He was born in Rosebud, Texas to the late Robert King Easley and Mary Ables Easley on January 20, 1925. Donald earned his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and was an Insurance Agent and the owner of Easley Insurance Agency in Victoria. Donald served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of WWII. He received the European– African -Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal for the battles of Normandy (D-Day +5), Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the medal of Knight in the French Order of the Legion of Honor in recognition of his contribution to the liberation of France. Don participated in an Honor Flight to Washington DC to visit the WWII memorials. He was also honored with a Dream Flight in a Stearman Biplane that was used to train pilots of WWII. Don was a member of the Boulevard Lions Club for over 55 years and received the Milestone Chevron Award.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ley Easley; son, Robert Easley; grandson, Bryan Doane; sister, Erline Crisp; brothers, Huson Easley, Oscar Easley, Billy Easley, and Rex Easley; and son-in-law, Michael Rokovich.

Donald is survived by daughters; Brigitte Rokovich, and Donna Doane (Guy); son, Michael Easley (Cy); brother, Jay Easley (Judy); grandchildren, Sean Easley, Dr. Sarah Boostrom (Scott), Whitney Easley, Dr. Falyne Shapiro (Yuri), Austin Rokovich, Andrew Rokovich, Justine Cruz (James), Herrick Easley (Daniella), Mary Margaret Easley, John Doane, and Mark Doane. In addition, he also leaves behind his great-grandchildren; Sophia Easley, Catcher Easley, Matthew Boostrom, Garrett Boostrom, Andrew Boostrom, Mallory Boostrom, Cheyenne Reeves, Zoei Stewart, Tavoor Shapiro, Geffen Shapiro, Lior Shapiro, Benjamin Rokovich, Allison Rokovich, Brandon Cruz, and Weston Cruz, and extended family and friends, all of whom will cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 1 – 1:30 pm immediately followed by reciting of the Rosary at 1:30 pm and Funeral Mass at 2 pm, all at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Entombment will immediately follow at Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum with full military honors.

Honoring Donald by serving as Pallbearers will be Sean Easley, Austin Rokovich, Andrew Rokovich, Herrick Easley, John Doane and Mark Doane.

Honorary Pallbearers are brother Jay Easley and all the granddaughters of Donald Easley.

The family of Donald wishes to extend their sincere thanks to caregiver Mimi Perez, Hospice of South Texas and his loving daughter Brigitte who spent countless hours caring for him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Boulevard Lions Club or Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
